As the name itself suggests, this pleasant flower just resembles any painter’s palette, having a glossy –textured look.
The botanical name for this flower is ‘Anthurium Andraeanum’. It has got common names as: Flamingo flower, Tail flower, Oilcloth flower and Painter’s palette. It  can be found in varieties of shades ranging from burgundy, red, pink, white, lilac, violet, chocolate brown and even green.
This is an excellent indoor plant, requiring very few amount of sunlight. As these plants originally belong to tropical climate, therefore, much care has to be taken while maintaining the temperature and humidity conditions.
These plants are available throughout the year. ‘Painter’s palette’ requires a special care.  And with proper care, the flower’s vase-life can range from 8 to 20 days. The typical vase life also depends on the stem diameter and length. If the stem is lengthy enough, more is the vase life and it’s the other way around if the stem has large diameter.
Precaution should be taken while handling these plants and flowers as they contain oxalic acid crystals and some toxic proteins. They may cause skin burning sensation or burning sensation in mouth if ingested.
