The name Mimosa comes from the word mimic. The two kinds of Mimosa flower that are highly popular are the Mimosa pudica and the Mimosa tenuiflora. The former is known to fold the leaves on touching or when the plant is subjected to higher temperatures. The latter type of Mimosa is famous for the dimethyltryptamine, a drug, which can be extracted from its root.
The plant is remarkable for two things. The first is surely the delicate scent and bright hue of is flower and the second is the fact that the plant is capable of movement. It not only folds the leaves but also may lower them at specific times of day. This is all about the Mimosa flower and plant in short.
